Following Jesus in a World of Violence Â
 CLICK FOR SESSION DESCRIPTIONÂ
What does it mean to follow Jesus in a world addicted to violence?
Father John Dear is one of the most well-known teachers and voices for peace and nonviolence in the world. In 2008, Archbishop Desmond Tutu nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize saying, “John Dear is the embodiment of a peacemaker.”
In this powerful session, John invites us into the heart of Gospel nonviolence — not as an abstract idea, but as a daily contemplative practice and way of life. Drawing on his decades of experience in activism (and prayer), he reveals how silence, stillness, and intimacy with God equip us to resist the culture of war and division, and instead embody love, justice, and peace.
Speaker bio:Â
John Dear (born August 13, 1959) is an American Catholic priest and peace activist. He has been arrested 85 times in acts of nonviolent civil disobedience against war, injustice, nuclear weapons.
