Email 1: Moment for Courage

Ā

Dear Friends,

We find ourselves in an extraordinary moment, one that calls for all of the courage and tenacity we can muster.

But we need guides along the way, guides who understand what it is to brave the darkness, not just to get through it, but to imbibe the wisdom that only the darkness can impart.

I’m delighted to announce that this year I’ll be one of the teachers in an illuminating and inspiring course designed to help us do just that.

Night School is a year-long exploration of the gifts of the darkness–spiritual, emotional, and communal–led by some of our most profoundly gifted spiritual teachers. [link to landing page]

Each month will feature a live masterclass and also a wealth of resources: spiritual practices, private community, class recordings, and a curated reading list for further exploration.

Here’s what you can look forward to:Ā

  • LIVE Monthly Masterclasses: Explore themes like shadow work, grief, longing, dreams, and darkness as intimacy .
  • Top Wisdom Teachers: Learn withĀ  beloved contemplative teachers such as Barbara Brown Taylor, James Finley, Christine Valters Paintner, and more.
  • Monthly Theme Overviews: Accessible introductions to each month’s focus, with key teachings, reflection prompts, and evocative quotes.
  • Monthly Spiritual Practices: Guided practices to help you befriend darkness, listen to your body’s wisdom, and trust in Mystery.
  • Private Community: Connect with kindred spirits and join small group conversations for deeper reflection and shared insight.
  • Curated Reading Lists: Thoughtfully selected resources to accompany each month’s theme.

Ā

Together, we’ll explore grief and holy longing, rest and restoration, and the wisdom of both our ancestors and our own bodies.

Together, we’ll befriend the dark.

Together, we’ll learn how not just to survive the darkness, but how to thrive within it.

[OPTIONAL: I’ll be leading a session on…, touching on….in [month], but you won’t want to miss any of these vital sessions.]

Email 2: Explore Gifts of DarknessĀ

Ā

Dear Friends,

All the great mystics had one thing in common: they knew how to befriend the darkness.Ā

They knew that the places where we feel most unsure of the terrain are the places that are most likely to lead us to wisdom and profound spiritual understanding.Ā

Will you join me in exploring the gifts of the darkness?

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be one of the featured presenters of Night School, a twelve-month online spiritual pilgrimage into the fertile and rich darkness.Ā

Across twelve live gatherings, we’ll venture deeper into the holy unknown, guided by the most experienced spiritual guides and elders.

Each 90-minute gathering will explore what the contemplative tradition has always whispered: that darkness is not the absence of the Divine—but the place of deepest encounter.

Throughout the year, we’ll explore everything from embodied wisdom to ancestral wisdom, shadow work and dream work, grief and longing and wonder.

Along the way, you’ll receive live monthly workshops, contemplative practices, recordings, small-group gatherings, and resources to accompany you between sessions.

If you sense that this season is asking something of you—
not answers, but presence—
we invite you to walk with us.

Click below to explore Night School, meet the teachers, and see the full journey ahead.

The night, and its many gifts, awaits you.

Email 3 : Descent

Ā

Dear Friends,

Perhaps, like me, you were taught to fear the darkness. ā€˜

We learn to turn away from what unsettles us—uncertainty, loss, the not-knowing that comes when the familiar lights go out.Ā

And yet the night has always been a teacher. What if it holds gifts we cannot receive any other way? Not easy answers, but a deeper wisdom that can only be found by walking slowly, attentively, through the dark.

The wisdom traditions assure us that there are seasons when clarity recedes on purpose.
When forward motion slows.
When the soul is asked not to ascend—but to descend.

Night School was created for this kind of season.

I’m delighted to invite you into a yearlong pilgrimage, built for those who sense we are standing at a threshold—where old maps no longer work, and yet something meaningful is unfolding beneath the surface.

I’ll be among the distinguished group of teachers guiding us through the darkness.

Over twelve live gatherings, we will be accompanied by trusted elders of the spiritual path—like James Finley, Barbara Brown Taylor, and Ronald Rolheiser—teachers who know how to walk gently in terrain that cannot be rushed.

Together, we will explore the work the night does in us:

How the body becomes a guide when words fall short.
How grief carries wisdom when it is tended, not solved.
How shadow softens when it is met with curiosity instead of fear.
How longing, once honored, becomes a doorway rather than a wound.

Each month offers teachings, contemplative practices, and space to reflect in community, along with recordings and resources to support you between gatherings.

The questions we hold together are simple, but not easy:

What if the dark is not empty—but fertile?
What if unknowing is not failure—but formation?
What if intimacy with the Divine is found not beyond the breaking—but within it?

If something in you recognizes this season—
if you feel the ache of change without knowing its shape—
you are not alone.

I would be honored to walk this year with you.

The darkness is calling. Let us answer bravely, with our whole hearts.
